In this paper, we investigate the controllability properties of a first-order multi-agent coupled with dynamic edges (MADE) system. We provide the necessary and sufficient conditions for the controllability of generic system and homogeneous edges system. Interesting results include that the controllability of homogeneous edges MADE system has strong relationship with the induced multi-agent system. Besides, we propose a necessary condition about the controllability of the general heterogeneous edges MADE system. Also, for the star graph, we propose a sufficient condition to test whether it is controllable.

This paper investigates the controllability of first-order dynamic-edge multi-agent (DEMA) systems that have dynamic systems attached on not only nodes but also edges. New results include a strong relationship between the controllability of homogeneous-edge DEMA systems and that of induced multi-agent systems (MASs) and a necessary and sufficient condition for the controllability of the general heterogeneous-edge DEMA systems. In addition, for the heterogeneous-edge DEMA systems, two types of special graphs, i.e., the cycle graph and star graph, are further addressed. Finally, one simulation example is provided to verify the effectiveness of our results.

Despite the influence that image-based communication has on online discourse, the role played by images in disinformation is still not well understood. In this paper, we present the first large-scale study of fauxtography, analyzing the use of manipulated or misleading images in news discussion on online communities. First, we develop a computational pipeline geared to detect fauxtography, and identify over 61k instances of fauxtography discussed on Twitter, 4chan, and Reddit. Then, we study how posting fauxtography affects engagement of posts on social media, finding that posts containing it receive more interactions in the form of re-shares, likes, and comments. Finally, we show that fauxtography images are often turned into memes by Web communities. Our findings show that effective mitigation against disinformation need to take images into account, and highlight a number of challenges in dealing with image-based disinformation.
